All about us

We are a Yr1/2 class and our teacher is Mrs Simmonds. We also work with Mrs Ramwell, Mrs Rees and Mrs Pengelly who help us in our lessons.

Expectations Yeo clss charter

We have also been thinking about how to be good learners. As well as making suggestions about our learning environment at school, we are all trying to eat breakfast in the morning and get a good nights sleep – adults included!

Organisation

We need to make sure we have our learning kit – our home reading book, a water bottle, a complete PE kit and a fruit snack at school with us every day.

Every day we practise our phonics, and on a Friday we practise our spellings linked to these. We use our phonics all the time, but especially in our daily Guided Reading sessions where we are developing our reading skills. We apply these in our home reading books, and can change these on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday if we have finished the book at home.

We practise and extend our maths skills all the time, not just in our Numeracy lessons, and we are enjoying using the new laptops in our computer suite for lots of our lessons!

Communication

Mrs Simmonds is always pleased to have mums and dads in to help, especially with trips, and the office can help with CRB clearance. If you want to talk to Mrs Simmonds about one of us then she is available on the playground every morning for a quick chat, or you can arrange to see her after school.

We have an exciting half-term ahead and can’t wait to get learning!
