About Us

Sedgemoor is the home of year 4 and 5 children. Miss Bryant is the class teacher and assisting her is Mrs. Ramwell. She is a HLTA who works with us every morning until lunchtime and teaches us ICT and PE on Tuesday afternoons.  Sedgemoor class have extra support from Mrs Covey, who supports SEN and EAL children with their individual needs. Miss Strickland teaches us on Tuesdays and Mrs. Harvey also comes into school once a fortnight to teach us French.

Sedgemoor Class is named after the area in Somerset where a famous battle took place in 1685. Luckily, our classroom isn’t quite so ancient anymore, it has been completely transformed over the summer. The classroom has been totally repainted, along with new ceiling and lighting!

Our Class Charter

We put our hands up when we want to speak.

We listen to other people’s suggestions and instructions.

We only say kind words.

We have good manners.

We respect other’s property.

We are active, resilient learners!

During the first week, Sedgemoor class came up with our class . These are rules that we will try to keeping help keep our classroom a safe and happy place to be.

Organisation

We have PE every Tuesday and Wednesday; so the children will need their school PE kit on these days. A list of what they should wear listed within the Our School tab and organisation section of the website.

Sedgemoor class have homework set every Thursday and it is due in the following Wednesday. They are given weekly tasks for literacy and numeracy and occasionally topic and PSHE. Tasks are based on work that the pupils have done during the week and so consolidates their learning.

The children will also have weekly spellings every Friday and are tested every Wednesday morning. The children are encouraged to read at home as often as possible.  Merit points are given to pupils who read a minimum of five times a week, so please encourage the children to record their reading in the yellow reading record.

Star of the Week

In Sedgemoor, we also have a ‘Star of the Week’. This award is given to someone who has made an extra effort in class with their learning or behaviour. Privileges of this position include a certificate, sitting on a special chair, a space on the noticeboard, being at the front of the line, doing extra jobs and even picking games for the whole class to play!

School Councillors

Sedgemoor’s school councillors are Lucas and Emily. These children have been selected by all Sedgemoor class members by a vote. These children will have meetings with Ms. Islip discussing different school issues and developments. Emily is also the year 5 CLP parliament representative.
