Behaviour
All children are encouraged to have respect for themselves, other people, school property and the school environment.
We believe that all children have the right in school to:
• feel safe
• to be treated with dignity and respect
• to learn
At the beginning of every year all classes draw up a class contract which sets out the rules that all pupils in the class are expected to follow. These rules are on display for all to see.
We stress to the children that they ‘own’ their behaviour. We expect them to make good ‘choices’ and take responsibility for the choices they make. When they have a problem, we aim to help them fix it. To fix a problem we explain there are only 3 changes that can be made:
1) yourself
2) the other person
3) the situation.
In school the children need to focus on changing themselves. Staff will help them in this process, whilst acting on 2 and 3.
Where problems do occur, we involve parents to work with us to improve the situation. We do hope that you will make us aware of any changes at home which may cause anxiety or a change in your child’s behaviour.
Our school Behaviour Policy is available for parents to see.
A copy of whole school rules is available in the Appendix.
We ask that everyone behaves in a polite and respectful way when on the school premises, so that we are all seen to be positive role models for the children.
